River Country Photography Tours
Specialized guided tours to photograph wild birds of prey in their natural habitat. Tom’s expertise as a raptor specialist means you’ll find Peregrine Falcons, Northern Goshawks, hawks, eagles, and other raptors that most photographers never see. Whether you’re shooting wildlife portraits or action shots, you’ll get the access and guidance you need.
Winter photography tours featuring ancient Native American archaeological sites and California desert landscapes.
Photograph rare Kumeyaay tribal carvings including “Yhanis” (fertility carvings) that are hundreds—possibly thousands—of years old. These sacred carvings are found almost exclusively in Ramona Valley and a few locations in Escondido. You’ll also photograph frog carvings, owls, eagles, and mysterious “shaman rocks” that remain unexplained to this day.
The Kumeyaay didn’t paint on rocks (though you’ll find some Shoshone paintings from traders who traveled as far south as Mexico City from their home in Magic Valley). Instead, they carved their prayers directly into stone, creating spiritual art that has survived for millennia.
