In the 1930s, a group of stuffed shirt geology professors held an inquisition of sorts. There was a Professor named J. Harlen Bretz who had written a paper demonstrating that an ancient flood had devastated North Idaho and Eastern Washington. The skeptical professors demanded he defend these “outrageous” claims. They fully expected him to perform an oral dissertation but he just said: “OK. Let’s Go!”, motioning to their cars.
He converted them all that day. He was one of history’s geniuses.
I’m an amateur gold prospector. After some time, I concluded that I needed a base of a self taught geology education which led me to WSUs Prof. Nick Zentner (I’m a “Zentnerd”).
From then on, I’ve been fascinated by the geological treasures that surround us here in North Idaho. It’s an incredible privilege and pleasure to be able to share these discoveries with you through the tours we offer.
